Quick Start Guide

Get started with Qoris in just a few steps. This guide helps you connect MCP memory and knowledge tools first, then points you to Knox when your agents need to execute actions safely.

Prerequisites

  • A Qoris account and project
  • An MCP-compatible AI application (Claude Desktop, Cursor, or custom)
  • Basic understanding of API keys and authentication

Step 1: Create a Project

  1. Log in to your Qoris account
  2. Create a new project or select an existing one
  3. Note your project ID (you’ll need this for API calls)

Step 2: Generate an API Key

  1. Navigate to your project settings
  2. Go to the “MCP” tab
  3. Click “Create API Key” in the API Keys section
  4. Give your API key a name
  5. Save the API key securely - you won’t be able to see it again
API keys provide full access to your project. Keep them secure and never commit them to version control.

Step 3: Configure MCP Connection

Each user gets their own unique MCP URL with their API key embedded. Qoris supports two authentication methods:

Method 1: Using Query Parameters (Your Unique URL)

After generating your API key, you’ll receive your unique URL:
This is your personal MCP URL - each user has a different URL based on their API key. Use this exact URL in your MCP client configuration.

Method 3: API Key via Authorization Header

For better security, use the Authorization header: For Claude Desktop: Add to your claude_desktop_config.json:
For Cursor: Add to your Cursor MCP configuration:
For Custom Applications:
The query parameter method (?api_key=...) is convenient for quick testing, but using headers is more secure and recommended for production use.

Step 4: Test Your Connection

Try saving your first memory: Using MCP tool call:
Or using the query parameter URL directly:
You should receive a success response with a memory_id.

Step 5: Explore the Tools

Memory Operations

Save a Memory

Use save_memory to store important information that persists across conversations.

Retrieve Memories

Use get_memories to load all stored memories for context.

Search Knowledge

Use search_knowledge to query your project’s documents, webpages, and knowledge items.

Step 6: Add Knox When Agents Act

MCP gives agents access to workspace context and tools. Knox governs what agents are allowed to do with that access. Review Knox when your workflow includes:
  • shell commands
  • file writes
  • MCP tool calls with external input
  • scheduled or background work
  • subagents
  • developer-agent sessions in Claude Code
  • business-system mutations that need audit or approval

Claude Code Plugin

Install Knox locally for developer-agent safety, hooks, policy checks, and audit logs.

Getting Your MCP Config

The easiest way to get your MCP configuration is through the Qoris dashboard:
  1. Go to your project’s MCP tab
  2. Generate or select an API key
  3. Copy your unique MCP URL: https://mcp.qoris.ai/mcp?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY
  4. Use this URL directly in your MCP client configuration
Your unique URL includes your API key and is ready to use. Each user gets their own unique URL.

Next Steps

  • Read the MCP Tools Overview for detailed documentation
  • Review Knox before enabling autonomous execution or risky tool access
  • Check out API Examples for backend integration
  • Explore individual tool documentation for advanced usage
  • Review the Technical Reference for complete integration details

Common Issues

Make sure your API key is correct and hasn’t been revoked. Check that you’re using the right format:
  • Query parameter: ?api_key=YOUR_KEY
  • Header: Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY
Verify your MCP server configuration. Ensure:
  • The URL is correct: https://mcp.qoris.ai/mcp
  • Transport is set to streamable_http
  • Authentication is configured: API key (query param or header) or OAuth Bearer token
Memories are scoped to projects. Make sure you’re using the correct API key for the project where the memory was created.
Verify that your API key has the correct scopes enabled. All 7 tools should be enabled by default.
